Current Work 08-24-07

Those who have read my blog posts, regarding my mid-life odyssey of rediscovery, know that I graduated from school in May 2007 and secured a position as a Flash artist at Animax Entertainment. As a result my usual flood of blog posts has been choked off to an anemic trickle. I figured I’d post a couple screen shots of some of what I’ve been working on these last 10 weeks or so. All artwork is protected by copyright of the various clients and cannot be reproduced.

I was hired as a Flash illustrator but because of a fortunate (for me) misunderstanding I was assigned a couple simple animations for net games. The producer on this was scratching his head as I took a bit longer than he expected and he finally asked “Didn’t you take the animation test?” My answer was “No, I was hired as an illustrator!” The end result was that I had a chance to practice my animation skills and I enjoyed it.

This first one was for a Keep the Oceans Clean game. In addition to the animation cycle I drew a bunch of trash props.

The Tuttles Madcap Misadventures

Animax was the creative lead on this awesome project for Starlight Starbright. It is designed as a very fun game that will also help raise money for its seriously ill children and family members.

I didn’t get to work on this but did get to see the concept art being developed -really cool stuff. The game is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2007 and should be a big hit.

One of the many excellent Artist/Animators at Animax is Ray Arrizon. He provided the concept sketches that follow.

Anime Studio (Moho) and other stuff …

New and old fans of Anime Studio will be happy to hear that Mike Clifton is working on a new update. While there is no release date he showcased some of the items on the Lostmarble Forum. Here’s a quick highlight of some of the stuff in the works …

First, path animation. You can now directly edit the motion path of individual layers. Here’s an example of the process:
