One of my classes this final semester has been Studio Production. It has been a few weeks of hectic but fun work to produce our student short. Were in the final stretch now and should be doing our final editing this weekend and we’ll be showing it at a student film festival in LA next week. Considering that we hammered this out with a full load of other classes, in about 8 weeks from conceptualization to final editing, I think it has gone well. We have a crew with varied talents and I hope I get to work with them all in the future.
Well time is running out and so I must finish this bit off this weekend. It is supposed to be just a special effects demo but I have to resist the impulse to stretch it out.
Here are a few screen shots. The upshot is of a cut to the waters surface as several more seed pods plunge into the water whereupon our snail dashes away.
Here is a sketch based on one of my story ideas. I am going to ‘Flashify’ this as I need the practice and some portfolio pieces. If you are an employer in the Los Angeles area and have an entry level position for a guy like me I’d like to hear from you. Critiques are also appreciated as I’ll be graduating in a few weeks and all advice (except get another job ;) ) is welcome.

In an effort to continue to improve my Flash skills I worked on this toon car tonight. I figured I’d offer it to anyone who may find it useful in their own animations or to study. Since I am a student I would of course welcome critiques on anything from the animation, to the design or even the logical breakdown of the component symbols.

I noticed the perspective was wonky so I made a couple quick 3D renderings with simple shapes to trace. I think winding it up the road in Flash would require too many views. Here are some of the renderings in case anyone finds the idea worthwhile -even a minimal 3D knowledge and placing simple shapes could be helpful for visualization I think.
